Private Child Autism Assessment

We are a specialist clinic, based in Hertford, providing private assessments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), for children and young adults. As can be seen, all of our clinicians have specialist experience and training in autism assessment/diagnosis within a range of community and national specialistic services.

Principally, we conduct our gold-standard assessments in line The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE guidelines), in order to provide high-quality assessments and reports. Additionally, we use recommended screening and assessment tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – 2nd Edition (ADOS-II). Our assessors are all trained, experienced, and regulated by a professional body. In addition, we understand the many ways that autism can present, including in females, as well as in those with additional needs.

Private Child Autism Assessment Hertford- Referrals

Although based in Hertford, we accept referrals from all over England. Clients do need to be able to attend one face-to-face appointment in Hertford, as part of the assessment process. Generally, the majority of the assessment can be conducted remotely. However, it is best practice for assessment teams to meet the child in order to complete the ADOS-II, which is a key part of the overall assessment and should be conducted in person in order for the assessment to be valid.

Combined ASD and ADHD assessment Hertfordshire

We are now offering assessments for both ASD and ADHD for children and young adults. We know that ASD and ADHD often co-occur and so we will now be screening all children referred to us for ADHD as well as ASD. Following the screening process, we will advise you whether a full assessment of ASD and ADHD, ASD only or ADHD only is recommended.

Some individuals or families want to consider medication to help treat their child’s ADHD symptoms. It is important to note that we do not currently offer an ADHD medication service. If a diagnosis of ADHD is given and you would like to consider medication, then we may be able to signpost you to a local psychiatrist to help with this. You can also ask your GP to refer you to the appropriate local NHS service for ADHD medication follow-up. Please be aware that a private ADHD diagnosis will not lead to prioritisation in NHS services.
